WELCOME MESSAGE AND THE CONDURA LEGACY
Dear Condura Runner,
The Condura Run is a run by runners for runners. We go the ‘extra mile” to give our runners the best possible race experience. Running is our passion and our mission is to get the whole Philippines as passionate about running as we are. The only way we can do this is to give runners the best running experience possible. Making the Condura Runners happy is the driving force behind our vision of being the Premier Running Event of the Philippines.
We have all come along way as we enter the 3rd year of the Condura Run. We have run further and further from 10k, 21k and now we are proud and excited to be staging our very first Condura Skyway 42km Marathon! We are deeply thankful for your support through the years. But more importantly, we are very proud of the hard work and discipline you have put in the months leading towards the Condura Run.
The Condura run however is not only about running; it’s also about making a difference. We are an archipelagic country and the abundant seas are our blessing that need to be protected. As a Condura Runner, you have DONE SOMETHING GOOD by running to make a positive contribution to Tubbataha and the whale sharks of Donsol. This year, we shall be running for the Dolphins of Bohol.
We hope that you enjoy the race whether this is your first 3km or 42km. Mabuhay kayong lahat!
Sincerely yours,
Ton Concepcion

Hello runners!

First of all, I would like to congratulate all of you for not only participating in the CONDURA RUN for the premier race for the year 2010 but most of all for making a choice for a better lifestyle. I know how hard you all have trained for this race. Regardless of what distance you are participating, may it be the 3k, 5k, 10k, 21k and 42.195km full marathon, the commitment you have made is outstanding. The Condura Run Team, worked painstakingly especially in all the details to insure all runners experience a 1st class race comparable to other countries.
It is our commitment to give you the best. Thank you very much again for participating.
Have fun, good luck on a race day. But most of all make "Running a way of life"!

The Condura Legacy

The surge of running's popularity among Filipinos' choice of fitness practice is phenomenal. It has been barely two and a half years since it started picking up. The popularity we are witnessing now is but a resurgence, as the sport swept the country into a euphoric high back in the 70s and 80s.
Borne out of two brothers bound together not just by blood, but also by the love for running, the Condura Run started as a run organized for runners by runners. However, Ton and Patrick Concepcion's labor of love grew into the premier running event over the span of three years. After all, the Condura Run's reputation as a consistently well-organized race is already in itself a laudable feat.
But the Concepcion brothers didn't stop at that. With Patrick's decades of experience in running and Ton's passion for scuba diving and running, the Condura Run continues to serve as a vehicle for marine life conservation. Every year, the running event offers something new and unique that spices up every runner's running experience.
“Our grandfathers on both sides inspired us to put this up,” Ton, the president and COO of Condura, shares. “Jose Concepcion Sr. and Antonio de las Alas were two extraordinary men who were pioneers in their respective fields.”
Joey Concepcion Sr. instilled the values of hard work, discipline, and attention to detail in the young Concepcions. “I think that's why we tend to become a little obsessive-compulsive with every single detail for this run – it's like an extension of Concepcion Durables, a company built by my grandfather out of those aforementioned attributes,” Ton says.
Antonio de las Alas, the Concepcion brothers' maternal grandfather, is the founder of the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association (PATAFA). “We really were into a lot of sports when we were kids, and I think this is how the love for running spilled over us third-generation Concepcions. It really runs in the blood,” Patrick relates.

Such was the inspiration to be pioneers in their own right that Ton and Patrick put up not just an ordinary big-ticket annual race – but a well-organized, enjoyable one that gives runners an experience that only the Condura men could offer. “We're runners – we know what a great race should be. It's not easy, but with the growing number of runners in the country – I think they deserve an excellent race that they will fondly remember,” Ton explains.
But apart from a race almost flawlessly executed down to the last detail, having in mind what the runners want is not just what the Concepcions have to offer. “We want to direct, to dedicate this run towards a relevant cause,” Patrick says. “The Philippines is an archipelago – rich and blessed with the most beautiful marine life there is. Ton is a very avid diver – he should know better. But every year, we really make it a point to dedicate our cause to one facet of marine life, one specie or beneficiary at a time.”
Because of the Condura legacy, putting together a race doesn't end with a perfectly organized one. It is but a vehicle towards a greater, worthier cause. Year in and year out, expect the Concepcion brothers to come up with something that will raise the bar higher – something that will make their grandfathers proud.
